González-Colón takes Congressman Doug LaMalfa and U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley for inspection of the power grid
Yabucoa is the town with the least amount of people with electrical services, since Hurricane Irma. Congresswoman González Coleon with Mayor Surillo, senator Laureano and congressmen Rep. LaMalfa (R- California) and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Oregon) met with FEMA, AEE, USACE, whom they petition restoration services.
The responsible agencies for electrical restoration(USACE, FEMA,PREPA) are working to restore the service as soon as possible.The mayor of Yabucoa emphasized the despair of the residents. Congresswoman González Colón, District Senator Laureano, Rep. LaMalfa and Sen. Jeff Merkley, urged them to move forward.
They went to FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Yabucoa, to spoke with the victims and witnessed the suffering and the necessities they still have.
Later, González Colón and LaMalfa met with the Puerto Rico's Secretary of Agriculture at the Hacienda Buena Vista in the municipality of Ponce.
The reinvestment of the #RumTax makes possible the conservation of important resources for the enjoyment of the People of Puerto Rico and for visitors. Hacienda Buena Vista in Ponce, is one of the projects that participate in these funds.
Jenniffer González lleva a congresista a inspección del sistema eléctrico en Yabucoa
Yabucoa es el pueblo que menos abonados tienen el servicio de energía eléctrica, desde el huracán Irma. El alcalde Rafael Surillo, el senador Miguel Laureano, el senador por Oregon Jeff Merkley, el congresista por California Doug LaMalfa y la comisionada residente González Colón se reunieron con FEMA, AEE, USACE, a quienes cuestionaron sobre el restablecimiento del servicio.
Los encargados del restablecimiento eléctrico (USACE, FEMA, AEE) trabajan para poder restablecer cuanto antes el servicio. El alcalde de Yabucoa enfatizó el desespero de los residentes y la comisionada residente junto al senador Laureano y los congresista Doug LaMalfa y Jeff Merkley les urgieron avanzar con esos planes.
Visitaron además el Centro de Recuperación por Desastre de FEMA en Yabucoa donde los congresistas Doug LaMalfa y Jeff Merkley hablaron con los damnificados y fueron testigos del dolor y la necesidad que todavía tienen.
Luego, la comisionada residente González Colón, llevó al congresista por California, Doug LaMalfa, quien es agricultor a la Hacienda Buena Vista en Ponce donde dialogaron con el secretario de Agricultura, Carlos Flores. La Hacienda Buena Vista, es una de los proyectos que se benefician de los fondos del "Rum Tax".
Gracias a la gestiones de la comisionada residente, se incluyó en la nueva Ley de Reforma Contributiva federal el reintegro del arbitrio del ron que beneficia a instituciones como al Fideicomiso de Conservación. El "Rum Tax' representa $900 millones adicionales para Puerto Rico e Islas Vírgenes.
