Jenniffer González announces $ 1.3 million from FEMA for the municipality of Cabo Rojo
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón announced the approval of $ 1,304,942.46 in reimbursements from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the municipality of Cabo Rojo for work of reconstruction and recovery due to the impact of Hurricane Maria.
The funds that FEMA disburse come from assignments that the commissioner has worked on since Congress. Collaboration has occurred with the Republican leadership and with the Democratic minority. Specifically, through budget projects and the projects of supplementary assignments for disasters.
The respective funds were granted following the Declaration of Disaster, which was issued after Hurricane Maria for Emergency Protection Measures under the Public Assistance program. According to Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act, this allows the disbursement of federal funds to carry out emergency measures for the repair, replacement or restoration of public property.
The reimbursement will be available once recipients complete all the required documentation and after it is reviewed by the government.
