Jenniffer Gonzalez and U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Oregon) on the island to continue recovery efforts

San Juan, Puerto Rico- The resident commissioner, Jenniffer González Colón, continues to seek to join efforts for the recovery of Puerto Rico in a bipartisan way, by having the visit to the island of the Democratic Senator from Oregon, Jeff Merkley, to know the impact Environmental, structural and electrical network of Hurricane Maria and the status of recovery work.

González Colón will today take Senator Merkley, member of the powerful committees of Assignments, Budget, Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works, to the Cantera Peninsula where they will be joined by former Governor Sila María Calderón, Senators Miguel Romero and Henry Neuman, as well as the district representative, Eddie Charbonier.

The federal senator will receive a report from FEMA on the status of the recovery of Puerto Rico. The commissioner will also take the senator to the municipality of Yabucoa, one of the municipalities most affected by the hurricane and that have less power, for inspection of the power grid and other damages. The senator will see firsthand the efforts on the island and separated Friday and Saturday to make the tour with the commissioner among other visits.

Also, on Saturday, the commissioner will have the visit of the president of the Sub-Commission on Island Affairs in the Federal Chamber, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-California) and also a member of the Federal Committee of Agriculture who will visit facilities of the Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico, in the area of ​​coffee processing on the island, among other encounters.

Sábado congresista Doug LaMalfa (R- California) visita la isla

San Juan, Puerto Rico- La comisionada residente, Jenniffer González Colón, continúa buscando aunar esfuerzos para la recuperación de Puerto Rico de manera bipartita, al contar con la visita a la isla del senador demócrata por Oregon, Jeff Merkley, para que conozca el impacto ambiental, estructural y en la red eléctrica del huracán María y el estatus de los trabajos de recuperación.

González Colón llevará hoy al senador Merkley, miembro de los poderosos comités de Asignaciones, Presupuesto, Relaciones Exteriores, Ambiente y Obras Públicas, a la Península de Cantera donde se les unirá la exgobernadora Sila María Calderón, los senadores Miguel Romero y Henry Neuman, así como el representante del distrito, Eddie Charbonier.

El senador federal recibirá un informe por parte de FEMA sobre el estatus de la recuperación de Puerto Rico. La comisionada también llevará al senador al municipio de Yabucoa, uno de los municipios más afectados por el huracán y que cuentan con menos energización, para inspección de la red eléctrica y otros daños. El senador verá de primera mano los esfuerzos en la isla y separó viernes y sábado para hacer el recorrido junto a la comisionada entre otras visitas.

Igualmente, mañana sábado la comisionada contará con la visita del presidente de la Subcomisión de Asuntos Insulares en la Cámara federal, el congresista Doug LaMalfa (R- California) y también miembro del Comité de Agricultura federal quien recorrerá facilidades del fideicomiso de Conservación de Puerto Rico, en el área de procesamiento del café en la isla, entre otros encuentros.
