Jenniffer González announces $183.5 million from FEMA for the Department of Housing

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón announced $ 185,792,083.07 in federal funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the Department of Housing and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for child care services.
FEMA notified the availability of $ 183,518,094.07 in reimbursements for the Department of Housing for the reconstruction and recovery works due to the impact of Hurricane Maria for the STEP program that finances the "Tu Hogar Renace" program.
The respective funds were granted following the Declaration of Disaster, which was issued after Hurricane Maria for Emergency Protection Measures under the Public Assistance program. According to Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act, this allows the disbursement of federal funds to carry out emergency measures for the repair, replacement or restoration of public property.
The reimbursement will be available once recipients complete all the required documentation and after it is reviewed by the government.
On the other hand, the $ 2,273,989 in funds from HHS under the Administration of Families and Children were allocated to the Quintana Baptist Church Head Start Program under the Disaster Assistance funds to Head Start and Early Head Start Centers within the social services program.
