Jenniffer González announces $ 29 million for airport improvements on the Island

Washington, D.C.- Congresswoman Jenniffer González Colón, announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) approved $ 29.1 million for rehabilitation work the airports Rafael Hernandez in Aguadilla and Luis Muñoz Marín in San Juan; the allocations come from the supplementary bill funds for the fiscal year 2018.

"The infrastructure of our airports is of vital importance above all because of our condition as an island, to allow the mobility of the population and commerce. The ports are the columns of our economic development and from the Infrastructure and Transportation Committee, to which I belong, I will promote and advocate for our island to have the necessary tools and conditions to strengthen our competitiveness and improve the quality of life of our citizens. that we live and visit Puerto Rico, "said González Colón.

For the Aguadilla airport, Rafael Hernández will receive $ 20 million through two allocations, each of $ 10 million, for repairs on the runway. The funds required for these works could not be fully met by DOT, so the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will work with the airport to ensure that other sources of investment are identified.

The Luis Muñoz Marín airport in San Juan will receive $ 9,100,000 for removal work for items classified as obstruction.
