Jenniffer González announces $5.5 million for Head Start, Science and health services

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Jenniffer González Colón announced $5,593,504 in federal allocations from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for child care services and education workforce and for Centers of Control and Disease Prevention (CDC) and from the National Science Foundation for Research.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the Department of Health and Human Services of the United States allocated $699,116 to the Ana G. Méndez University System for training under the Advanced Nursing Education Workforce Program.

On the other hand, the HHS Administration for Children and Families / Office of Head Start allocated $ 780,000 to the Municipality of Guayama and $2,314,046 to the Municipality of San German under the Disaster Assistance funds to Head Start and Early Head Start Centers within the social services program.

Enteric diseases (CK), Ponce School of Medicine received $ 1,572,342 for science and health research related to the prevention and evaluation of the dengue epidemic.

The National Science Foundation approved $ 225,000 for Social Solutions, LLC to execute SBIR Phase 1: Development of Geolocation Name System (GNS).

These funds will help with a project to build an open, dynamic, personalizable geolocation repository that serves as the foundation for the next generation of geolocation- enabled applications, including autonomous and Internet-of-Things (IoT)-related solutions, and the output of which can be used in data analytic models for forecasting health, weather, and population growth and/or spread.
