Jenniffer González announces federal funds for the Department of Agriculture

San Juan, Puerto Rico - The resident commissioner, Jenniffer González Colón, announced that the Department of Agriculture of Puerto Rico will receive $ 305,960.00 to regulate the use of pesticides.
These funds, appropriated by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are part of the Partnership Performance Grant (PPG) program.
The allocation is for state programs for pesticide application, certification of pesticide applicators, and specialized pesticide programs that help ensure that the use of pesticides is adequately monitored and controlled, thus protecting the environment and health from pesticide misuse and pesticides.
PPGs can help states finance the priorities and strategies they have developed through joint planning efforts with the EPA.
In this case, they give the Department of Agriculture of Puerto Rico greater flexibility to address their environmental priorities, improve environmental performance, achieve administrative savings and strengthen the partnership between the Department and the EPA.
