Jenniffer González is honored in New York for her career in public service

New York- Congresswoman Jenniffer González Colón's track record of public service was once again recognized, this time by the Hope for Families and Children Foundation, Inc. and the Puerto Rican Family Institute Award last night at a gala in New York City.
The Public Service Award is given to an honorable representative who goes above and beyond in providing advocacy for the mission of the community and the Institute.
"Is an honor and privilege to receive this award which I dedicate it to all the women who come out every day open to new opportunities to achieve success and overcome discrimination. To girls and young people I say that everything is possible with dedication and perseverance. The fight for equality for Puerto Rico has always been my priority and I will continue working from the Congress to achieve full equality for the island,"said Congresswoman González-Colón.
The Congresswoman has advocated for the aid to families that apply in the states to also apply to Puerto Rico.
Some of the bills established by the Congresswoman to promote the welfare of families include HR 754 and HR2649 that promote low and moderate income workers in Puerto Rico to receive the Income Tax Credit (EITC) at a federal level. The HR 302 an extension of the Tax Credit for Children of Puerto Rico is known as the "Child Tax Credit", tool to get families out of poverty that has been supported by several entities; as well as the additional $ 600 million for the nutritional assistance program (PAN) as well as the transition to SNAP, which is the one applied in the states, among others.
The Hope for Families and Children Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit institution founded in 1989, whose mission is to raise funds and support the objectives of the Puerto Rican Institute of Families, founded in 1960, to help communities in need and change lives.
