Jenniffer González promotes DC discussion of US Tax Reform impact on Puerto Rico

Washington DC- With a tax reform proposal soon to be considered before the US House of Reresentantives, Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón is promoting a discussion in the federal capital on the possible effects it could have on the island's economic development.

The congresswoman, to gether with the Board of Directors of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute's (CHLI), will coordinate a forum to be held this Thursday to discuss the proposed tax reform's impact on the economy of Puerto Rico. The event will include participation from other members of Congress and representatives of the government of Puerto Rico and private business.

"Federal Tax Reform: A Path For Economic Development in Puerto Rico" will count as one of its key speakers Resident Commissioner González-Colón. A panel will follow that will include Puerto Rico Treasury Undersecretary Roxana Cruz Rivera, National Taxpayers Union Chairman Pete Sepp, and Iván Román of the Puerto Rico Pharmaceutical Industry Association (PIA).

CHLI is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization founded in 2003 by members of the US Congress to promote economic progress of the hHispanic community, focusing on social responsibility and global competitiveness. It is chaired by former Florida congressman Lincoln Díaz-Balart and its vice chair is his brother, Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-25).

"Federal Tax Reform: A Path for Economic Development in Puerto Rico" will be held this Thurday, May 4, from 8:30am to 10:00am at Room 2045 of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington DC.
