Jenniffer Gonzalez recognizes Jane Stern Dorado Community Library for their nomination to the 2019 National Medal for the Museums and Libraries Service

Washington, DC- Congresswoman Jenniffer Gonzalez Colon congratulated the Jane Stern Dorado Community Library named one of the 30 finalists for the Institute of Museum and Library Services' 2019 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

After hearing of the nomination, the Congresswoman reached out to the directors of the library to thank them for their service to the community and celebrate the national recognition.

IMLS is the primary source of federal support for the nation's libraries and museums. The National Medal is the nation's highest honor given to museums and libraries for service to their communities. For 25 years, the award has celebrated institutions that demonstrate extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service and are making a difference for individuals, families, and communities.

"Once again the quality of the work that is being done on the Island is recognized nationally. I am proud to know that the services that Jane Stern Dorado Community Library offers to the community are standing out nationally and serve as an example to other organizations in the United States. Education is power, and their program is an invaluable tool to empower our communities. Congratulations to the staff and volunteers who work in this institution" stated the Congresswoman.
